A Visit with the Owner of Beaumont Metal Works

Yesterday I had a visit from Andrew Kraus, the Owner of Beaumont metal works (makers of the KMG grinders/tools). He and his daughter were on vacation to see Glacier National Park, Yellowstone, and Teton.... and took the time to stop for a visit. Great guy, and I can see with his leadership, KMG machines are only going to get better. Rob Frink is still the head designer, but decided to step away after nearly 3 decades of being the Owner/Operator.... and any one one us who are full time knifemakers/Bladesmithing, knows the burden of being an Owner/Operator.

Anyway, We had a great visit. Over the years I've provided user insight and suggestions to improve their machines, and with any luck, in the future, they might be producing/offering my platen design for/on their grinders.

Fantastic! Thanks for sharing that I enjoy seeing how other makers-craftsmen set up their shops and tool benches.

Good post and glad to hear news of Beaumont group - They deserve credit for having the KMG grinder that is the basis for most of the grinders out there these days.

Do I remember the story of that big anvil? Seems like there was an interesting story there.
