Another Chef's Knife
I know, I know, boring title.
I've been busily beavering away making chef's knives for Christmas. This latest one is a Japanese inspired 8" blade made from AEB-L. The handle is 304 stainless and African blackwood. I did something that may be of interest to hide the bolster pins. They are actually sections of 8-32 stainless machine screw, pressed into holes in the bolster pieces that have been routed out with a Dremel and small diamond ball. Then pressed in a hydraulic press to form a kind of rivet for a solid mechanical connection. I have documented the process in my blog: http://dcknives.blogspot.ca/p/hidden-pins.html Thanks for looking and please don't tell my Mom what she's getting for Christmas. Happy knifemaking! Dan |
