The Beaver Tail
Here is the latest off my bench. I call it The beaver tail cause it was made with a trapper in mind for skining beavers etc. My wife however calls it the butter spreader or cream chesse or craker spread etc etc..man does that bring up different images if I call it a butter spreader.... anyway...
o-1 hand rubbed finished. Only 1/16 of inch thick. Wood?? Found it in the pile. looks nice buffed up. Oal: 8 1/4 inches Bl 4 inches Blade upsweeps and is rounded towards the front. The handle has a finger space so you get a good grip and I made the leather lanyard bigger so it can slip over the wrist. All thoughts welcomed I never tried to make a skinning knife before. Looks really good , I have a friend that traps beaver , and I made one for him using his "storebought" one for a pattern. Had more of a rounded end , and was sharp all the way around. He said it works great. Yours looks alot better than mine did.
Good job. |

Dwane. I thought about rounding the end and sharpening it all the way around the end I may still do that. Ross |
