This is a knife that Charlie made a while back and I just ran across a picture of it. The handle was made from the leg bone of a deer and carved. The blade is D2 with nickle silver guard and throat for the sheath. It was one of those that didn't hang around long.

Wow. Way to capture the traditional Scottish origin and give it a little modern tweak. Excellent work. I love, LOVE the knotwork. Was that done free hand?

The more I look at this the more I love it. Did you just buff the bone out to get the glassy aperance?

Really not difficult to understand that it did not stay around long---How long? 10 seconds?

Thanks for the compliments guys.
Jayson, the bone was hand polished. I think we do have a buffer somewhere, but we don't use it. We do all the finishing by hand. The bone was soaked in linseed oil for weeks before using to give the material a deep and creamy look.
Sandy, Harry and I hope you can make the Ga. Guild meeting on the 10th of Feb. You are always welcome anytime you are in the area. Mabe you can teach my brother something about working with leather. He has just been making it up as he goes.
