Finish for cocobolo?

I'm (late) in completing my entry for the current KITH. The handle is cocobolo, and as a test on some scrap, I dabbed on a light coat of tung oil (formby's, so it's really a blend) and it isn't curing up well, still quite tacky after 48 hours. What would work better for my finish?

Thanks

-Radar

From what I've found, it sounds like TruOil is very similar to the Formby's I'm using. I wonder why mine isn't curing. Do you clean the oils out of the wood with lacquer thinner or something before applying?

You might try a super glue finish, just sand it to a 600 grit and clean good with acetone. Then rub a couple coats of super glue on and hit it with 0000 steel wool between coats then buff it out.

Nope, I put a coat of true oil on, let it sit overnight, buff it with 000 steel wool, and repeat until I get the desired finish

This is the last Cocobolo I did with true oil

My personal recipe:
Sand to 600
Optional but really worth it> a light pass with 1200 to bring up chatoyencey
Buff on bare stiff white wheel
Healthy amount of almond oil(resists filmy polymerization on cocobolo)
Gulf wax (for a kitchen knife I lean towards less toxic materials)
Buff with old t-shirt
