Something a bit special, my favorite so far!
Here is the knife that I consider my favorite that I have made so far.
The design is about three years old, the blade was forged two years ago and was re-etched about one year ago! Blade is forged by my friend G?ran Enocksson from my design. The oxidized bronze bolsters are engraved by Mahikel Eklund, One side with an old style compass rose and the other with part of an old seachart. Mammoth ivory is from our own cromdubh, thanks mate! Scales and bolsters have oxidized bronze and black fiber spacers. Fileworked and slightly etched torx screws. I wanted to show as much of the beautifull steel in the tang as I could. The whole sheath is lined with thin brown leather and has a bronze detail with my stamp. I am hopeing to be able to get better pictures of it soon... Really like the "old" feel of the steel and I have done my best to do it justice. Quite pleased with it I must say What do you think? Thanks for looking. I believe that this may be MY favorite from you as well!
The bolster embellishment is awesome! I have a vast map collection and love the imagery. You continue to be my guru. __________________ Andy Garrett https://www.facebook.com/GarrettKnives?ref=hl Charter Member - Kansas Custom Knifemaker's Association www.kansasknives.org "Drawing your knife from its sheath and using it in the presence of others should be an event complete with oos, ahhs, and questions." |

Awesome blade. I love the graving on the bolsters. Pretty neat.
I'm always amazed with your leather work. On some project if you have the time, could you do a little photo tutorial? I'd love to see some of your methods. |

Magnus, I really like this one. The "layered" look to the handle came off very well, and I like the way it shows the damascus around the edges. Like others have said, the engravings of the old maps on the bronze bolsters is great. Your butt treatmens are always interesting, and adds a final touch to the knife. The overall design is good, and looks to be executed with precision.
Again, you've created a wonderful leather sheath. They always have unconventional and interesting construction, and as with the knives they are done with precision. Is this my favorite? No. I've liked all you've posted here over the last several months! Another great one!
