Saltwater logo etching...
Would someone tell me if the saltwater etcher Wayne Goddard uses (pg. 149-150 in The Wonder of Knifemaking) would work properly at 5V DC and if the amount of amps/milliamps, whether 5V or 6V DC is crucial?

I just re-read those pages. Seems to me the purity of the DC supply is the most important part. The difference of 1 volt probably wouldn't be a deal breaker. Like he said, this method will require a lot of practice and testing. The methiod is simple enough. Give it a try and let us know what you find out...

The problem I've got is needing to use what I can find and I'd like to avoid spending time trying to work out a system with a tool that will never do the job right. I see your point about 1V probably not making a huge difference. The power supply I've got puts out 5V DC at three different amperages: 0.5, 1.5, and 10. I guess if I try the top and bottom of the range I'll learn something. Mike Krall
