How many knives do you make ?
I have a question for all of you full time makers out there. How many knives do you make a month , or per year ?
You'all can tell me to step off if you want to , I'm just curious. Dwane |

Im very part-time ATM but id say if i can get one finished a month, I am good. That doesnt mean i dont have 4-5 knives in progress at any given time, but finishing them is the key!

I've been full time for 7 years and produce between 40 and 50 knives per year on average. But, I live alone and in a remote location so a huge amount of my time goes to doing the normal daily chores like laundry, cooking, grocery shopping, vehicle maintenance, etc, etc etc. If not for all that stuff, I imagine I could easily double my output....

well I recently sent off a billet of damascus to get heat treated, normalized, tang welded on and ground etc.. the billet took a week to forge, the recent stuff took around 3 days plus now it's just a regular blade to be finished.
Im sure it really depends on what equipment you are using. Ed __________________ Gold is for the mistress - silver for the maid Copper for the craftsman cunning in his trade. "Good!" said the Baron, sitting in his hall But steel - cold steel is master of them all. Rudyard Kipling (1865 - 1936) |
