There's the old standby of fingernail polish.
Use electrical tape and tape off around the brand and cover evenly with fingernail polish and cut out the design with an E-xacto knife then gently scrape the cut out area off. It is the method I used rather than just scraping off the design and getting uneven edges because the polish doesn't come off precisely. By cutting the edges I get a nice edge, but it is for simple patterns unless you're really good at drawing.
You can also try cutting out the brand on Mylar and tape that onto the blade. |

Hey Robert!!
Honestly, your time and money ahead to just order a single stencil with the name you need. I'd recommend Blue Lightning/Bo Grospitch. 720-379-4651. I THINK the last time I had a similar job of putting an individual's name on a blade, the stencil was like $45, and I told the client that the cost of the stencil would be added the price of the knife. If you go that route, it will come out far more professional looking than trying to freehand. The other option is to take the knife to a trophy shop and have them engrave it....but the last time I checked on that, the steel could not be hardened, and the cost was about double that of a single stencil. ![]() __________________ WWW.CAFFREYKNIVES.NET ![]() Caffreyknives@gmail.com "Every CHOICE has a CONSEQUENCE, and all your CONSEQUENCES are a result of your CHOICES." |

I had a trophy shop mark some of mine with their diamond stylus pantograph. May call around and see what the local trophy shops have. I paid $12 at the time.
Junko's handwriting is pretty nice that she uses the NSK high speed rotary handpiece with carbide burrs to mark mine. __________________ Mike ![]() ![]() |
