Don't worry about the thickness. The forge body is only a form to hold the insulation up. As long as no flame can touch the steel casing it can be quite thin with no problem ...

Received the other day and have learned much, as you were very concise, to the point.
I'll watch as few more times as this info gets digested I'm sure.
Someone gave me a old (220) small, high fire kiln the other day. (Paragon) Due to politeness, I accepted it and plan on using, at least some of the bricks, metal from it. It would hurt the giver's feelings if I did not.
I'm much more confident going forward thanks to the forge video. Actually alot more confident.
Thank You Ray!

If the kiln works it could be worth keeping. No reason you can't have a kiln and a forge too, they each have their uses...

A separate circuit would need to be run for it (30amp), then there is the cost of electricity vs. gas.
The first forge I build will be based on your video.
After I have a better, hands on, understanding of building the first one, I have a design in mind to use the material from the kiln. It will still incorporate a cylinder shaped interior, and much smaller than the present size of the kiln.

I have just listed this video on Amazon so now I'm looking for people who have seen it to write reviews for it. If you have this video I'd appreciate it if you would write a few words about it at this address:
