Newbie with a question!

This is my first post but I hope to get info and maybe add to the knowledge on here.....I have been making knives (putting antler handles on blanks for years) and I've been making sheaths, gun rigs for cowboys, chaps etc for years. What I'd like to know is how to make new leather look distressed and old? I'd like to make some traditional style sheaths that look like Indian sheaths......thanks

I generally just dye mine and polish them. I put a layer of dark walnut, a light and I mean LIGHT! coat of black, and then I take and put a polisher on there that cleans and preserves.

Check out the "Stickies" at the top of this forum. Also I think Chuck, "Wild Rose", probably has some sort of tutorial on distressing/ageing leather.
OR.....just drag the leather behind your truck for awhile, then let the dog have his way with it. Then use it to make a sheath.
