9'' Bushcraft / Straightback

the more I make of this style the more I like em.....
my version of a hardy Bushy/Camp style companion
this blade is 5/32'' thick +/- and a full 9'' of 5160 carbon steel.....HRC avg of 59-60

A highly figured Mallee Burl grip with mosaic acccents and 2 pc Loveless center rivet for extra durability, shaves your arm and zips through 1/4'' thick leather with ease...
custom tooled sheath to dress it up a bit.....this one I could easily keep but it's off to its new home this afternoon, a few quick pics , then off to the posty....
thanks for looking...

Love the grain on those scales. What do you use for finish?

Very nice, solid knife Mr. Watson! The burl is beautifully finished.

The more knives you make, the more I love your work. Just out of curiosity, did you buff that handle?

thank you fellaas , appreciate your replies once again........

this was a fine piece of stabilized Mallee burl, wish I had more !!
I could have easily left it at a 600 grit with a wipe clean and been happy but I went up to 800 and gave it a wipe with tru-oil , let dry for 30 seconds to a minute and wipe dry , repeat a couple more times......I've found the key to tru-oil is not lettting it sit to long and gum up, apply with clean fingers, let it soak for a very short time and wipe clean, almost like your wiping it all off....repeat to desired look , it will fill slight voids and add a nice durable coat......

have an awesome weekend
Rob
