Miles Gilbert Bedrock Glass

I know Ray is a proponent of Acraglas.

Googling around I have become aware of a product sold as a rifle bedding kit called Miles Gilbert's Bedrock Glass kit. It's available at Cabelas. It looks like the same type of kit, resin, hardener, release agent, dyes along with the measuring gear and popsicle sticks.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this product for scale attachment.

Dan

I read the reviews on this product on Amazon
Amazon.com: Miles Gilbert Bedrock Glass Bedding Kit: Sports & Outdoors Amazon.com: Miles Gilbert Bedrock Glass Bedding Kit: Sports & Outdoors

One guy mentions that the material is more like thin putty when mixed....this makes me think it may be more similar to AcraGlas Gel which we don't recommend for knife use. If its thick like that then it can't be poured into a stick or stub tang handles which is THE feature that finally sold me on AcraGlas.

Buy some and try it out, let us know. So far, I'm inclined to think its not for us and the price I saw didn't impress me but you never really know until you try ....

Just my thoughts here but I would think that you "could" run into some adhesion issues because it wasn't designed to bond to metal. I'm not saying you should rely on a glue to hold your knives together but every little bit helps lol.

Acraglas not bond to metal ? I remember in gunsmithing school a student forgot to use release agent when glass bedding a stock. It was a sad day for him after destroying the stock etc !!
Acraglas is one of the best with long shelf life excellent adhesion .My own rifles have it and in perfect condition after 40 years !
