Just finished the 21st folder to the same design,TI liners ATS 34 blade hollow ground,handle stag.Must change to another design for a bit of variation.Still got to make the sheath.

new design hey? perhaps you need to get in on the barlow chalenge! imsure don is still accepting participants. i cant beleive that is your 21st i remember when you posted your first(gee that makes me sound like an old man)
where'd you get your stag? from the states with your other stuff? have you got a mill daniel? im gnna make my first liner lock soon and im a bit concerned about no mill and no surface grinder, do you buy precision ground stock?

TO answer your questions BRETT, I built a surface grinder for the blades,the stag i bring back from fishing trips in NEWZEALAND, I dont use my miller on the knives,the blades are ground on a home made belt grinder and liner locks cut with a small cut off wheel in the vertical drill.The 8 deg bevel on the blade and the the lock face is ground on the home made grinder with jigs to get it right.

I have used corian on few handles and it looks good and easy to work.trying to get good stag for the handles has been difficult in trying to get a straight piece with a large diameter .I did try cow horn ,split it down the middle with the band saw,boiled it for 2 hours then put it in the vice between two steel plates ,it makes a good handle scale.

It also takes a good polish and looks great, can post a pic if you want to see it on a handle.

OK daniel, i just read every post you've made and not once did you post a picture of any home made surface grinders, come on, youve been holding out on us.
and hell yeah i wanna see some cow horn handle.
looking at you past posts you sure seem to have made allot of gadgets and machinery you obviously have some nice tools, i think i read lathe mill and some other handy bits, what did or do you do for a crust? or are they all just for play time.

here is a pic of how i cut the liner lock,the small cut off disk and arbor you can get from DICK SMITHS in a 150 piece rotory asseccory kit for about 16 bucks.good value.

thie liner is held in a small machine vice and works good.

that helps a bunch daniel,
i just read you profile, i was right, retired engineer.
you should plan now to fly up to the north island for the guild knife show, i think i saw jetstar offering cheap flights about that time of year(may), like 49 one way i think, you would only have to sell one knife to cover the cost, however if you wanted a table you would have to join the guild i think.

Hi Daniel

I saw some pics of your grinder in another post - very nice work.

Did you make or purchase your small wheels and attachment? I'm finding it hard to locate small wheels here and any advice you can offer would be appreciated.
