Sheath making Molds

here's one that Sandy sent me a while back - at the top right is the molded face that comes from using the mold and on the left is a semi-finished sheath.

The thing with this method is you can get a basic "generic" sheath OR you can then fit a knife by re-dampening the face, inserting the knife, and then hand boning it to the shape of the knife.

wooden forms are the cat's meow - especially when making more than a one-off. i made my first one 40+ years ago to form a case for a silva compass. couldn't figure out how else to cover the intricate shape without making a complete mess of it.

Maintainance is easy IF---it is warmly dressed, adequately fed, properly shod, hair is parted on the left, sanitized after out house use, and bedded down early. Gee--! After looking back on this I realize you are right-- it isn't easy-----And I will pay attention to what you say "one sheath at a time"! Sandy
