Buffalo horn
Does anyone here have some words of wisdom on working with water buffalo horn? I really like the stuff when it's polished, but I have trouble with it moving, bowing, something. It looks fine at clamp up then when I sand down to finish I see small gaps.

Keep the temperature down if you are grinding it. Working it by hand would probably do better. If the horn gets hot it can try to take back the original curve that was in it. Horn is also built up in layers and getting it too hot will make it want to delaminate.

Stabilizing it will solve most, if not all, of your problems:

Thanks Doug and Steve, I really like the finished look of buffalo horn and had just about sworn off using it.

Give one or two sets a try and see how it goes. Good luck!
