Michael Fong - straight razor
Been a LOOONNNNGGG time for one of these.
Told Junko I'd be a quick 45 minutes working on a fixed blade sheath. Well, this was calling so decided to buff the handles out. One thing lead to another... I came in the door and she commented, "quick 45 minutes?!" Yup...knife time means 3X-4X what I say. __________________ Mike |

Started in on some others:
The bevel from the 5" leaves some to be desired, perhaps a 3" wheel would be nice. Not as thin as I'd like. These are fairly thin at the edge and I'd like to wash that up higher. __________________ Mike |

My 1x42 has a 4" wheel after the cork I put on it.

This is the thinnest production razor I have.
Will look into some other wheel options. Thanks Jim! __________________ Mike |

Beautiful razors. Having only made a few, they are deceptively complicated.

One of those pop my head out of the ground to see what is happening time. LOL. The pandemic was mentally draining and I began hibernating. This is a fit up on these. The lower one is a 1095/ni damascus from Daryl Meir. Looking forward to etching it

Did one with some 3/32" stock for the next batch. I've also done a bit of clean-up on the 2" wheel which works well. Happy with how thin this came out.

At first glance I thought, "Why would he make it out of 3/16ths?" Then I read the note up above at 3/32 and went, "Oh!". LOL Not 1/16th grad.
I have Rulers the same, 1/32 and 1/64 on one side and 50ths and 100ths on the other side. A Starrett Tri Square I bought in 1978. That is some accurate grinding and a good photo. |

Thanks. One of the parts about grinding on a smaller wheel is going through or being to thin in areas not necessary. A grinding jig would be nice if deciding to make more.
