A while back there was a scavenger type KITH, not a contest. It was a type of recycling KITH where the requirements were to only use recycled materials. In other words, no bar stock could be used for the blade, or stabilized woods for the handle. Everything had to be scrounged--leaf springs for the blade, scrounged or reused other parts for the handle, guard, etc.

Well heck I am already in. I have stocked up a bunch of broken and worn Harley parts. A ciol spring from A yamaha sport bike, An apple tree that I chopped down last summer and a niebors tree.
Some pushrodes from a 51 chev Belair sould make cool mosaic pins and lots off copper pipe. I am trading another fellow I know a knife for a bunch of salvage brass and bronse. We dont compete hauling scrap iron we work togather to get the best price.
So what next and who else is in????/

Ok up to date it is u and i . I would proudly trade a sharp tool with you but I am sure more folks are going to jion us. Lets make another rule. You can use power tools but you cant plug them in. LOL so a drill could be used as a hammer

Although my forge is presently not up (I just moved) this'll make for an even bigger challenge. (Hi Metalbender!)
I'll jump in with you and not only work with scrounge material, but I'll have to throw up a makeshift forge with whatever I cna find lying around here...

There were actually a couple "contests" before the KITH. The entries were judged and then the winner got a scavenger knife. It was on the old "Crucible" forum before it got hacked.

I used a brake drum for a forge for awhile. Now I save it just in case I want to make mokume. I am told copper raises hell with the forge.
Hey Tai,You in this go arround???? I would love to have one of your masterpeices in my collection. I have one from Dwane Oliver and it inspired me to make a few wood carving knives.
I got one just about finnished for the newbie KITH and am just waiting to here what the rules are going to be for this round.
Screw####### also make chissels for a breif time.
