Greetings

I thought a quick hello was in order since I've been lurking about for awhile and wanted to order the 2 dvds that Ray has for sale.

I'm 51 and live in the Upstate of South Carolina. I am much the beginner and find the whole endeavor to be fascinating. I recently bought a Grizzly 2x72 with both 8 and 10 inch contact wheels and learning how to work with it.

I would like to offer my thanks for the wealth of information on this forum as it has allowed me to avoid some beginners mistakes.

Thanks for the welcome, I've enjoyed reading through many threads here.

My goal is to become skilled enough to make my own including heat treatment.

To that end, I'm interested in the Forge video and newest video from Ray.

is $27 to knives@rayrogers.com the correct method?

thanks

James

James,
Also like to invite you to visit us at my Trackrock Hammer-in the last weekend in March. I hold it at the Trackrock Campgrounds in Blairsville, GA. Not that far a drive from Anderson. Makes for a great spring weekend camping trip as well. Unlike most other hammer-ins, admission is free. You can inspect several different style forging setups, see different techniques, and discuss technical issues with different accomplished knifemakers. A good way to get your "hair singed" so to speak. Although we do cater to the youth, most of the time if you look hungry enough, you can get a little time at someone's forge.
More info will be available down in the Georgia Guild forum here at KNF and I will also post a notice here in the Newbies section as well a bit later.

Yes it most definitely is. My personal laffin' place is just a little NW of there. My avatar pic was taken at the campgrounds during our very first hammer-in there. Only 6 in attendance and rained all weekend, but we had fun. This one coming up should be #28 (twice a year), and the number of participants averages 15 - 18 with spectators running around 150+ per day. Check out the campground at www.trackrock.com (best directions found there).
