My new toy!
Just thought I'd share a couple pics of the oven I picked up today. I thought I could talk the guy down more but we settled on $325. Im happy and can't wait to use it.

You'll want to stand your blades on their backs in there, not lay them on the floor. You can buy some little ceramic stands from Paragon for this purpose. Be careful not to let anything touch those coils no matter if hot or cold, not even dust from the bricks.
If you get the chance you might want to buy a digital pyrometer (about $100 new) to verify the accuracy of that analog meter because the way that meter reads it would be easy to be off by 50 degrees one way or the other. Nice score, Nate .... |

Thanks Ray! I can get a digital pyrometer from the same place I picked the oven up at. I got it up to 1550 earlier today. It did take a little bit to get up to temp but thats ok.
Ray did you get that email I sent to you? |

Nice find! I had one identical to it at one time, and once calibrated it worked just fine. The pyrometer is a good idea, and there is an adjustment screw for the meter if I remember right. Wes

Congrats NorCal, i like when i here people get deals. it can run a little expensive if you get the bug and want to get better. Take it from me spend the tips to bartenders on your knife hobby instead. Nice find. Knife making/hobby is WAY better than a drinking hobby. I don't know how old you are so if you are (old) it still is NOT TO LATE.

Claymore I'm 34. And I dont go to bars unless it's to play a show. If I want to drink then I keep it at home. Oh and drinking and knifemaking do NOT go hand in hand!
