Thanks for your efforts Jack!

And if one thread is a must to restore, it's definitely the "Magic Randall"!!! It's where you got your start here, Jack....

As far as the fotobucket fiasco, I can only imagine the reactions to the havoc wreaked on collectors of all kinds. (Even those who collect old discarded buckets).

Cheers!

David

A white handle Randall 14. Help. Need honest feedback!!

Hello gents. I enjoy reading this thread from 2017 then found myself in 2025 with a goal of finding a randall 14 tenite to complete my Randall 14 set viet era.. only 1 big problem I don't have the 8 to 15k everyone wants for the Randall 14 tenite the ones that are in great to mint.

I found this very interesting version and it sorta aligns with this thread "white handle R14"

I wanted to negotiate with this seller because he is local to me. 9k still very steep.

Love to hear everyone's opinions on this blade.

It's pretty obvious the blade is in horrible shape and looks like it's been enhanced to get rid of the carbon areas on blade. Also the white handle slabs the seller not sure the material. However this seller has best of the best collection so I am sure he knows a thing or 2..

To me sheath looks great. Blade looks cleaned up(kills value) and handle material looks like a craftsman did his best to retro a new resin slabs...

I love to own it but not anywhere near 4k

What do u gents things? I am a collector not a flipper

First off, I don't claim expert status on the 14, but what I do know i that at best, this knife was a kit knife solingen blade. The hilt is wrong, the handle material is wrong, and the sheath is wrong. The authentic sheath for a white tenite mod 14 would be a lift the dot heiser sheath. The sheath with this knife is from approx 1964-1967 made by Maurice Johnson.
Here is the subject knife, below is an actual white tenite with sheath.
So imo this knife was a kit solingen knife blade only and someone fashioned the crude hilt and handle. I have no idea what kit knives sell for. The sheath is good. 63-67 Johnson roughback.
Hope this helps.

Sam is correct. The subject knife does not appear to be a genuine a white tenite handled Solingen Randall. Earlier in this line a discussion about a seemingly similar 14 with white tenite scales decided it was not genuine. A genuine 14 with white tenite would have almost certainly have been a Randall made blade, not a Solingen. And it is unlikely that more than 3-4 were ever made. See timeline discussion early in this line.

Re: 14 collection - blades are more important than handles and even if a white tenite 14 was found it was likely to have been too early to have participated in Vietnam. Vietnam era 14s are covered in some detail in this line…especially see page 10.
