Suggestion needed on cleaning the blade
Thank you for letting me join the forum. I need a suggestion on how to clean/restore the antique (possible 1930) paper-knife made in Zlatoust (Russia). The material of the blade is steel, it is guided and decorated with silver as well. I included a photo.

The photo did not show up. Generally leaving the age patina would be preferred. Making them look shiny new is to be avoided. There are a variety of ways to clean some of the rust off though I've not done that type of clean-up on knives. Another member may have some suggestions on a gentle clean while preserving the well deserved patina of time.
