Gator Cutlery Club Show

Had another fantastic 3-day weekend in Lakeland, Florida at the annual Gator Cutlery Club Knife Show! Virtually every table had Randall's for sale! And I mean some sellers had cases with knives stacked on top of knives!

Bill, how times have changed from a decade ago. From what you say it's now a buyer's market.

There are several reasons for this, no doubt the poor economy being the main one.

How many Randalls did you buy?

Cheers!

David

Hey Bill. If you want to email your pics to me, I'll be happy to post them?

We're there many vintage Randall's available? Pre "80's?
It's great for you to be in Florida, where you are close to the action.
Regards, Samg

Sam, There were so many older Randall's that they were literally stacked in piles on some tables!

A 1938 knife was there. A 1941 Bo Randall personal desk knife was there. A 1954 Ivory handled Smithsonian was there.

Probably 500 Randall's were there!

Two from the John Cheek collection. Of course, my attempt includes upside down pictures....

Awesome! Did you happen to photograph the knives that you mentioned?
We're they for sale or display? Who had them? Was it John Cheek? Did he have his stainless steel fishing knife with him? The pic below is one he had at blade last year.

Here are a few that Art Green had at blade last year too

Cropped from the above photo of Art Greens, you know what this one is?

Regards, Samg

Sam,

That's the "Applegate Stiletto". You can read about it in Hunt's first book on pages 50-53.

Best,

Ron

You are absolutely right Ron.
I purchased my Astro from Art last year at blade, he showed me the Applegate. Very nice knife.

Sam, You are 100% correct! The killer knives were part of the John Cheek collection. But there were plenty more as you are well aware of! I have some pictures that I took on a small camera, but apparently, I do not have the software anymore to upload the pics. I'm going to work on finding the correct driver so I can retrieve these pics.
