New knife and a piece of history!

During the last few months I have been working on a new design along with a few guys who call them self "shiveworks"...they approaced me with the idea of making a so called "Pikal" styled knife. This is my take on this.

While making a few protos I decided to make a persian version of the Pikal...same shape and size but with the edge on a more conventional spot

While I had it out I thought I wanted to show of my "background"..... WW2 US Carbine .30 cal. This rifle was dropped down with parashute over Denmark during the war to be used by freedomfighters.

Nice knives, Jens, and a nice piece of history, too. I've still got all of my grandfather's uniforms, medals, etc. from his service in Europe in WWII. Some of his stories were so amazing, and since I've gotten old enough to understand just how horrible it had to be over there, I'm even more proud of him now than I ever have been. I wish he had lived long enough for me to tell him that, but he died of lung cancer when I was 16. I also have a German paratrooper's knife that he brought back. It's one of my most prized possessions.

Nice work, Jens, and thanks for the memories that your post brought back.

It looks great. my pops has a carbine just like that and it is a great shooter. i like the sixe but it is a bit short for me but that could be cured with a butt extention. That is a great piece of history...........R

Great knife Jens. I'm fairly new to this forum, but I've come to look forward to see what new designs you've come up with. I love the M1, great piece of history. I have a Japanese dog tag my grandfather brought back from the Philippines after WWII.

Nice looking knives!

I miss my old M1! I used to have one from the Korean War era.

Whoa !

Jens, you've done it again. Is it like a karambit with upswept blade ? Nice lines - looks thoroughly MEAN ! I liked the M1 carbine, but could never get it to work well with those 30rd magazines. Jammed every 10th round or so. To make it worse, any autos are now illegal throughout Australia. Gave up a lot of nice guns a few years back.

Jason.

The Pikals above was the first prototyperun. I just sent this two revised designs of to the Shivworksguys. They are smaller and more concealable. Made from S30V, handrubbed! What do you think?

Jens (or anybody), what is the ring on the butt end of the handle called? I've been working on a trout knife with a similar feature and have been calling it a "pinky ring" for lack of proper terminology.

Hey Jens
I dont often manage to get to the forum and when I do most times I dont have anything much to say

But on this occasion I would like you to stand and take a bow for the obvious condition of that carbine and the nice job you did with the blades

Jason You are right All the legal guns are now scrap It is just the illegal ones that are still out there. #### we have some mighty intelligent knee jerk politicians dont we { Not }
Did they really think the illegal ones would be handed in ??? I ask you.

Jack
