This is the damascus that Romey and I were making last week. I have two bars like this, about 1/4" thick...

The hydraulic press was easy to work and I had a little bit of trouble keeping the ladder pattern straight, but is now fixed. Also since we were at the Lawrence Welk resort took a pic of me next to him!

Hey Rob, that press is made by Uncle Al (Riverside Machine, Louisiana). Probably cost a ton to ship to BC though!

One of my ABS buddies just bought a used one a few months ago and we hauled it to his shop from Springfield, MO. She is a heavy beast and very accurate. Meaning that you press or release the foot bar and the ram reacts instantly and is very controllable. The first and only press I have yet tried. Glad my buddy is less than an hour away! Woo-Hoo!

A couple of hunters I've started, one from the damascus from last week, plus the stuff I'm doing for the KITH....

A little test blade I made. The blade was re-ground from a paper cutting knife used in a roofing shingle factory. I'm told by a gentleman who used to have a contract making them for another company that the steel is D-3 tool steel. I run it through 2 temper cycles @ 450F, ground it and cut the tang. Then silver brazed on a 1/4 all thread and put the handle together. I'll do some testing on it and give it to my source to skin out some deer. We'll see how it holds up, if it's even worth making more.

Decided to make 3 knives now. One that I re-cut to fit a 1/4 rod and two more
to make threaded ends. I think I like this type of handle

KITH blade

1/8" 1075, cut out with a band saw and profiled on a bench grinder. Bevels and finish profile with files. I need to get it cleaned up to 320 grit length wise before heat treat. I'll probably get that done it the next couple of days.

I plan on silver brazing a piece of stainless 1/4-20 to attach the butt cap.

Some stuff for the Chat Room Show and Tell: my Pinwheel damascus hunter blade and my KITH entry. The KITH knife handle was shaped just this morning and quickly buffed so you can see pretty much what it will be but it is a long way from finished. I'll do a little more shaping and a lot more finish work....

Project I have been working on. I was never satisfied on the work that I did on my
first KITH project (kitchen knife). I used 1084 instead of stainless and the bolsters and
handles didn't match the way they should have. This has bugged me since. So...
my objective was to redo and finish the first KITH before I got my entry into the second.
Here are some pixs to show the first entry and then the redo.
