newbie pics

ok guys im trying this again, since yahoo wouldnt let me share my pics .
this is my first knife that i made when i knew nothing about making a knife.
it is made out of an old file and a deer antler that was given to me

this second knife is one that i bit off more than i could chew . it was a piece of an old millsaw blade that was 1/4 inch thick. i made the mistake of asking my wife what she wanted for a knife and this is what she came up with .

i thought about giving up in the process but figured that would be un fair to her and to myself,so after long afternoons and very sore hands it is finally done .
any constructive critizism is more than welcome. please be honest i need all the help i can get
thank you

Herbey, Way to go ! The only thing I can say is ......get making another one. You'll get better and better as you go and find better and easier ways of doing things.

Wow. I gather that you FILED these blades? (You said you had sore hands.) That's a heck of a lot of work Did you anneal first and then re-heat treat? (I like the first one a LOT, Man. Simple, Good.

thanks for the comments, and i already started working on my third knife.
as far as listening to my wife well i have run my designs by her while they are on paper and get her yes or no first and then try to improve on what we both agree that could be best.
the first knife was done using only file and sandpaper but the second one i did use a dremel for the serations and the gut hook. yes i did anneal first and then re heat if not i think i would still be working on the first one lol
thanks again for your encouraging words

Good job dude! I like the gut hook.....I havent tried that yet but want too. The antler knife... I made a small one or two like that also. My 1st looked just like yours. The 2nd one I did I made the top of the blade back/spine flush with the top of the handle. I liked the way it looked a lot better. Get a grinder...like a grizzly... its soooo much easyer. Again ..... good job dude!
