Finishing of a stabilized handle

I picked out a set of Jade colored maple burl scales glued some full length red spacers to set off the greenish colored wood.
Tonight I finished glueing the second scale onto a large hunter styled knife that I plan to put some multi colored 1/4" mosaic pins in. (red/black/brass/copper) From Jantz supply. I took the blade and did a little file work and died the glue black and filled the file grooves with the glue for another nice touch.

Question: How do I go about finishing this type of wood and making it just stand out and actually make it look like I know what I'm doing. I have a nice new buffer with plenty of wheels......

If it is commercially stabilized maple and not some home brew off eBay then sand to 400 grit - or more if you prefer - and then buff with White Diamond and finish up with No Scratch Pink for a high gloss. You can get these two compounds at K&G Finishing in AZ (google them) ...

Honestly Ray, it was supposed to be high quality.
I can't remember exatly who I picked it up from. I looked at dozens of sites but this one block caught my eye. After cutting into scales the sealer and stain sure look like they are pretty evely throughout. Thankyou for the advise.....any special type of wheels?
