when to twist
Alright I got a hold of some wire rope.Now when do I twist it
so it doesn't come undone when I beat on it. when it hot and will it stay.:confused: __________________ Friends may come and go but enemies accumulate. :cool: NT screaming gamecock Gann |

I usually twist mine at Welding Temp. By doing this you are pretty much compression welding.
I twist twice at welding temp, turning if over between the two. I then tap with the hammer (again at welding temp) to straighten it out. Lastly I twist it again and hammer everything smooth. just my 2 cents Mike __________________ No Chance, No Dance |

I weld the ends before forging. That definately keeps it from unraveling.You can twist some wire on the ends too to keep it together. I do a lot of twisting before the beating.
Tap and twist lightly. Hard hits cause you to start over.These taps will get more solid as you progress.Keep turning the same direction to tighten as you tap. |
