Welcome to the CKD Mr.Dread,Very nice knives.I picked up some masur birch through a trade here and just made a handle with it.That is a very cool wood to work with.Don't look like much till you start playing with it.Are your handles natural wood or are they stained with something? I tried using leather dye on mine since I had no stain in the shop, and it turned out awesome.I hope to get more of this soon.Dave

The knives are nice.
There's one thing that caught me off guard however, and that was a banner link on your homepage from ClickExchange.com for buying and selling adult films, complete with a photo of a couple, shall we say, in-the-act. I'm not sure how porno fits in with knifemaking. If you are able to choose what types of banners are displayed by ClickExchange, you might want to set guidelines for them. I don't mean to sound condescending at all, because it's your business, not mine. But I can absolutely guarantee you that porno banners will alienate a large group of potential customers. |

Thanx 4 your comment. I always use pure wood, i dont like that stabilized stuff (feels like working in plastic). I mostly use my own homebrew of 40% oil, 60%terpentine, some Carnubawax and a little glinch of tar. this mix is perfect as a base. From that do i also make an allround wax: i just add beewax, parafine and some more carnubawax to a mix that will be like butter when cold. That mix could i use both for leather and wood. When i dye my handles do i use standard watersolvent dyes, water and some spirit. I start dark and dry/finnish add more water and dry/finnish and so on 3 to 4 times bye 4 now -MrDread Last edited by MrDread; 07-29-2002 at 05:47 AM. |
