something different (handle material)
Just thought I would pass this along. Found this interesting material the other day that I thought would work fairly well and this is my first test run of it. It's still doing the cure thing but it's workable at this point. Can be tapped, filed, sanded, drilled, machined, etc... looks fairly good and it should be able to be polished, or at least put a coating on it that can be polished up.
Keep in mind this was just put on and needs to have some shaping done to it. Ed |

I molded it to my hand as it was drying so it's not the best looking handle out there but it's probably the most comfortable.
The material is locite epoxy putty. comes in this stick you squeeze mix untill it's uniform in color then mold and in 2-5 mins it's tool workable, 24 hours to fully cure. the colder it is the longer it takes to set. What I did in this case was put it under cold water to keep it moldable while i formed it and it's not 100% right but I can sand/file it. I am also going to see what polishing results, it should polish up quite nice. Also if I formed blocks out of it then cut it down with a sander it should be usable as well. Another idea was to put something like dye in as it's mixed up but not to form a uniform color but more streaks. Ed |

very cool!!
good idea with the cold water! you might want to try a fiberous filler to give it a different look? and it might add some strenth as well. .........justin |

Roll it in sugar.
After the epoxy cures, rinse/dissolve the sugar away. It may be a bit more texture than you need, but it definitely wont slip out of your hand. Mike |

great idea mike!!!!!!
mabey sea salt or rock salt for different textures. how about mixing halflifex/glow powder in to it to get some nice glowing swirls in it. ...justin |

more durable? This stuff is designed to bond concrete, not to sure how much more durable you would want, as it is it's slightly difficult to cut with a grinder. Polishing is so-so but im thinking of a top coating.
