Introduction?

Hi,

I don't know if you do introductions here, but I thought I would do one.

My name is Tim Clark, I am a beginning engraver.
I have been engraving for about 5 years, but most of that time was while recovering from an auto accident that broke my neck and back, so the quality of my engraving is not what 5 years of practice should show.

I have nerve damage in my arms and legs and engraving has been helping me to teach everything to work together again. It helps with hand/eye/leg coordination, because I must really concentrate to engrave.

After looking at the beautiful work you all do here, I am not near the level of the engravers here.

I use two Lindsay AirGravers, a Classic with the Palm Control Handle and a Chasing with the standard foot pedal. I have a GRS vise and Hone and I just bought a used Zeiss scope that I want to convert for engraving. Perhaps someone here has experiance with converting these scopes....

I?m looking forward to talking with you all and sharing info.

Thanks
Tim

Thank you all.

I am looking forward to talking with others with the same interests. As for pictures, well, after seeing the quality of the work done here, I don't know if I can show my junk.

Compared to the beautiful work here, you should only look at my work from a distance,,,,and with your eyes shut.

I need formal training, I hope to be able to travel soon and then I can get the training I need.

However, it just makes me more determined to work harder to improve my engraving, I didn't let a broken neck and low back stop me.
I had a 20% chance of ever walking again at one point, now I walk a half mile every day. I wasn't able to lift a can of beer, and that's serious, now I engrave.

I hope I didn't do anything wrong but I copied a couple of the pictures of the engravings posted here. Not to copy, but to study and to try to see what the engraver is doing to make the engraving look the way it does.
If I did something that is a "No No" please let me know and I won't do it anymore.

Thanks again,
Tim
