venturi burner question

Ok, there was a 1.5" to 3/4 reduction on the burner. All I could get in black iron was a 1" to 3/4. Got to thinking this morning as I was cleaning this weekends mess up in the shop. Why couldn't I just get a galvanized reduction coupler in 1.5"? I mean there is no heat on that end and the pipe going into the forge is black iron. Maybe someone knows something I don't, which is very likely as I don't know much.........lol

Well I went ahead and dropped 7 bucks on one well an 1.5" to 1" and a 1" x 3/4" in case there were no probs with the setup. I'll just epoxy the piece of crossbar that holds the tip. This is starting to be a pain..........lol

If you're worried about the galvanized coating you can dissolve it in muratic acid. It will eat that zinc right off.

No need to remove the galv on that end. You'll be ok using it....like a two toned pistol.
Epoxy may not hold long that close to the forge. There will still be some heat transference that will most likely break down the epoxy. Also this will get "banged around" some (trust me, it's in a work area). Mechanical attaching of some kind is much better.

You going to try to make it over to Doc Sangster's for the GA Guild meeting on the 2nd?
I plan on coming down on Friday evening.
Details and directions available down in GCKG Froum here on KNF.

I agree with Carl. Even then I don't trust it 100%. Always have a secondary, "mechanical" way of attaching your scales - pins, bolts, screws, pommel nut... If glue is the only thing holding your knife together I wouldn't trust it.

What is the cross section off your cross bar just drill a hole in the bell portion an use a set screw to hold it in place...
