Quick Bolster Question...
Hi all,
I am working on a full tang stock-removal and will be installing front and rear bolsters. This will be my first time shaping and installing my own bolsters. My profile is ready to be sent off to HT. Q: Should I create and pre-fit my bolsters before or after sending profile to HT.... or does it matter? Thanks! __________________ Stay away from fast women and slow horses |

Its better if you make the bolsters closed to finished shape before ht so you can drill the pin holes to match first....

Personally, I hates dem bolsters but that's just me. They could be made either way but I would wait until after HT just because. Blade could warp, or crack or shrink just enough to throw your holes off a smidge. Or, maybe cleaning up the blade and holes, flatteneing the bolster area, changed things enough that they don't fit quite right. It's no worse that making bolsters for a kit knife blade that arrives all drilled and finished. Once the blade is finished then you know what you're trying to make the bolsters fit. Until then, you're hoping nothing changes and ruins your work ...

Ray and BigCountry ,
I appreciate the good advice. I'll hold off on my bolsters until the knife gets back from HT. Thank you! __________________ Stay away from fast women and slow horses |
