A Second Life For A Big Knife

Mark dropped it by the studio this morning and I wanted to post a quick shot.. But there is a bit of a story to go with it. About a month ago, Mark brought it to me and told me to take it and break it! He had been wondering how his knives would hold up under some good hard work (my phrase for abuse). Well I hauled it to my tree farm in the mountains and really tried it out. I had wanted to clean out around a few peach trees I had planted and it made quick work of the job. That included taking out a couple of 4" dia. black cherry trees. Since we were having a nice rain at the time, the handle material got good and wet. I at least expected the handle to separate after drying. Well to make this short, when I got back he took it and put the final finish on it for me. Needless to say the knife held up so well I'm going to go out and hunt down a few more trees. Just to let you know, that is a 10" blade!

Nice to know that a tool will do what it's *supposed* to do, and worth the occasional test just to verify it. Good looking blade.

Lets see, 10" ATS-34 hollowground 3/16" blade. Taperred tang, Kingwood scales with ss guard and red spacers.
Only test driven on Sundays by little old photographer.
