Saving a Bolo

I traded for a WWII Filipino Bolo at a recent show. It was a 'bring back' piece.
It was VERY rusted and beaten up. I wanted to save it, but I want to preserve its antique character.

Here are a few before and after pics.
The handle is buffalo horn (I originally thought it was a dense wood).

The Filipino Mahogany scabbard is next.
