01 drop point knife and some unfinished blades
a knife err inspired by some sort of woodsman's knife...
The customer gave me a link to a site and told me to copy it but make it a little bit larger - it turned out allright I think. I might do some more with a similar edge format they are easy to grind and sharpen. I will not do the same blade again for a while I dont like copying that much. Hollow ground single bevel on a 3 inch wheel. Nice enough design though 01 Steel and a she oak handle http://members.westnet.com.au/snixon/woody.jpg bigger image there hardened to 56/57 rockwell Other stuff I am making for a upcoming knife show unhardened L6 at the moment just gunna have a simple slide on from behind nickel silver oval guard and a straight handle. I guess 55-56 rockwell for them would be OK?? here are some more - most of them D2 60-61 rockwell. Im not sure if the key ring sized knife will be welcome so I might leave it at home. Chiesal ground knife the rest flat ground. Chiesal ground knives can get REALLY sharp The largish bowie in the pic is 440 C and treated to about 56-57 rockwell any comments good or bad?? Thanks Stephen Nixon |

Well, you certainly have enough there to keep you quite busy for awhile. The finished one is quite nice. I don't think I have ever heard the term She Oak, but is looks nice. Also, the bottom picture has some knives with what I call curly cue type handles, those are real comfortable in the hand.

Shell oak, maybe?
I like those designs a lot. The finished blade is the "bushcraft" design popular in Britain, I think. There are several websites and makers that use that design over there, it seems. I really like the drop point in the bottom photo. Lots of possibilities in finishing those. Have fun! |

Its Sheoak sorry no space. There are about 150 varieties of it in australia.
Its "inspired" by the bushcraft knives thats right armory414. Okay then well its copied but a little bit bigger then theirs - the customer said he has fairly large hands and ordered it that big. Its off some sort of tv survival show. Thanks for the replies btw Stephen |

Do not worry about "copying" Just look at all the. . .umm. . .interpretations. . .out there of bowies, loveless, etc. etc. It's still a custom knife, based off another pattern, made for a specific customer to his specifications.
