Big Bowie, Little Bowie - both by Harvey Dean

For you bowie fans out there (and I know you?re out there) here are two by bladesmith Harvey Dean:

The first of the pair pretty much defines my favorite type of knife: the full-size forged bowie. This example rendered in a 10? blade of 1084 with an overall length of 15?. A stag handle and stainless steel fittings round out the package.

In the realm of custom cutlery there is a perfectly acceptable alternate spelling for the word ?clean?, and it happens to rhyme: D-E-A-N. Fit and finish on both knives is utterly beyond reproach. And both are scary-sharp, just the way I like them.

The little brother is rendered in damascus comprised of 1075 and 15n20. I sports a 5? clip-point blade and an overall length of 9 ??. A stainless steel escutcheon adds a touch of class to this elegant little knife.

One more pic to round out the set:

Cheers,

Roger

Fantastic!

Both are distinct, classic, and define cleanliness in a fixed blade. I see he kept the guards simple, and fluted the ferrule below it. I especially like the sharper edge on the ferrule on the large Bowie, following the handle profile closely. Subtle things that make me look over and over.

Roger, congrats on a fine set to your already-astounding collection!

Thanks Murray, for giving us such an inspired view with the pics.

Coop
