my new mark.

I just placed my first order with Ernie Grospitch at erniesknives.com for stencils to mark my knives. I cant say enough good things about the process. I had basicaly no clue what I wanted other than just my name and location. Ernie sent me about 3 different versions before I was finaly happy with it. I would and will be recomending him to anyone who is looking for stencils.

here's what we came up with

I cant wait untill it gets here so I can start marking my blades

It's a good thing when you can put your name on your knife ....

yes I agree. and it's much nicer when you can do it yourself at home and dont have to send it out for laser etching or engraving....

That's a great looking logo!

All I've ever heard about Ernie is that he's a great guy! It's good when you find great people to work with.

I'm with Ray. It has to be a landmark day in every maker's career when they get to put their first signature on a knife. Equally great is when they can put their first clean logo signature on one. I like hammered initials, etc. But there is nothing like looking at a slick looking logo on one to give it that finished effect.

Again, yours looks very professional!

Alex

Ernie does great work, doesn't he? Plus, he's a man of character and principle. I've never seen one bad thing written about him on any of the forums. You might be able to tell I'm a big Ernie Grospitch backer. He made me some stencils from a design I sent him some time back. Excellent customer service! His stellar reputation is well deserved.

Very nice. I have been trying to think of a touch mark myself, but can't seem to come up with anything pleasing to the eye.

Approximately how much is the cost to have stencils made?

still waiting..... I hate the mail service sometimes.
it was under $50 cdn shipped for a full page of stencils. Not sure yet how many that will be.
just send ernie an email give him a basic idea of what you want and he will help you come up with somthing you will like. I know we went back and forth a number of times getting it just so. great guy to deal with.

Yeah, good ol' Canada Post. No wonder they ranked number 8 out of 20 for postal services for the G20 nations.

Thanks for the info, I will contact Ernie and see about getting some stencils.

Well today my stencils finaly arrived :-) Heres the results of my trials. I did these test marks on a blade I messed up, tried to re-profile but it just wasnt saveable. There are 2 marks in the pic one just etched (could not get it to photograph very well) the bottom one is etched then marked.

thanks. all I realy need is to work out how long to hold it on there to get the depth. I know you dont want to just hold it there for a long time or risk burning out the stencil so I've been doing 5, 10second passes. how do you all do it?
