Hey fellows,

had not heard of/seen the coil spring method..... sounds rather ingenious, if I'm understanding right.

Out of curiostly mainly, and my interest in lockbacks recently, where do you get a coil spring for this that's strong enough, but narrow enough to fit between the liners? Unless of course this is only used for rather large knives, I haven't seen that many coil springs of that size, that have the strenth that I'm used to feeling in a knife lock. I.e.; a 1/8" blade and bar thickness?

Unless I'm miss understanding this construction method....
(coil spring sits in hole in top of/on the top of the spacer, spring presses up on back of lock bar..) ???

I fyou look in the "making a lockback" probably wrong but Wayne Clay uses a coil spring. It is very effective, and I think you can get the spring from several sources, the one that comes to mind is Brownells.

MSC catalog has any size coil you need.

if I were going to build a lockback now, a coil is what I'd use.

Right. Just saw a slot into the top of the back spacer to fit the spring.
