Sq Wheel grinder
I have a Square Wheel grinder with a 7 1/2 inch "slow down" drive pulley on the motor.
I am installing a 3phase motor and a VFD. Should I stay with the 7 1/2 inch drive pulley or go back to the original 10 inch drive pulley? Thanks, Pat |

Personally, I would just leave it as is, since the only real difference the 10" pulley will make the fastest speed just a little faster, where as using the 7.5" wheel will allow you to get the slowest speed just a little slower, which I would think is more advantageous.
I doubt you will need to run your VFD on max speed very often, if at all. The only other consideration I can think of at the moment is that you will get just a little more surface area of contact with the belt using a 10" wheel than you would a 7.5" wheel. The extra contact might give you a little more torque, but I'm sure it would be negligible. __________________ -Andrew Riley For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword....
