Here's a new picture that I received from Ray Matton. Beautiful job on a first folder!

This is the first folder from Bill Buxton, made using this tutorial and the tutorial from Jason Howell. Bill has been making fixed blades for years and he also made all of the damascus used in this gorgeous folder:

Here is one that I made using Ray's tutorial. Thanks Ray for all the effort and great job you did on the instructions.

I can only speculate on why Jason's tutorials are no longer in the WorkShop area. My guess is that it is for the same reason my liner lock tutorial is not there. When the Custom Knife Directory became the Knife Network the decision was made to not have anything listed in the WorkShop that was not hosted by Atlanta Virtual in order to guarantee there would never be any 'dead' links listed. If Jason has moved his hosting somewhere else for some reason then I suppose his tutorial would have been removed. This is just speculation, I do not know for a fact that this is what happened.

To try to take up some of that slack I have created a Tutorials thread in the Sticky section of the Newbies Forum. Jason's tutorial and others are available from there ......

Yeah, I'm not sure why they dropped them(linerlock and anodizing)... Mine WERE hosted on AV, so I too can only speculate.

I did the tutorials at a time when there was not much info out there to share what I had learned on my own and with the help from other knifemakers. Although I have changed the way I do some of the things in my tutorial, I still believe it is a good place to start. I have had many, MANY emails and pics sent, maker coming up to me at shows displaying their first folders using them. The pride and the gratitude shown is the reason I did it and feel there is still a place on the web for them.

I have looked at Ray's and every other tutorial I find. I learn something from each and every one of them. I too appreciate the free exchange of information concerning knivemaking. Thanks guys.

I did manage to put the tutorials on my own website. I include the links below. They are probably right where they need to be anyway.
