Modified Tongs
These old flat jaw tongs were modified by heating the jaws, grab a piece of square stock, (in this case my guess it was 3/4 X 3/4), forge the jaws around the square stock. I may have used a bottom swage, it was a long time ago.
These tongs hold round, square and flat stock nicely. They are safer than flat jaw tongs. __________________ Happy Hammering, wear safety glasses. Gene Chapman Oak and Iron Publishing www.oakandiron.com/ |

There are some flat jaw tongs in the shop, they aren't used much.

I have a couple flat jaw ones but use them when we have hammerins.
Thanks for your interest. __________________ Happy Hammering, wear safety glasses. Gene Chapman Oak and Iron Publishing www.oakandiron.com/ |
