Blackwood supplier?

A few years ago I ordered some blackwood blocks 2 x 2 x ? from a company which offered three different grades. The flaws in the bottom grade were easily worked around for a very reasonable price. I have since lost my contact list. Does anyone know who this supplier might be?

Gary, A&M Wood Specialties in Ontario, Canada has blackwood at very fair prices. They have a website with prices in both US and Canadian $. Sorry I can't give you the URL right now- I'm on the road.

Thanks for the replys. The supplier that I had in mind offered 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 x 12 blocks in three different grades. I'm guessing that the lower grades were rejects from the clarinet manufacturers and had a very reasonable price.

That would likely be A& M woods here in Ontario. They deal a lot in instrument grade wood. They also have different grades of blackwood. Give them a call. I was there last week and they have a good supply of the blackwood.

Hi there, you've probably bought some by now, try these guys as well, prices will be excellent as you're dealing in South African currency (1USD buys about 7 ZAR) postage may be expensive though. http://www.KMTs.co.za

Could i have been exoticwoodgroup.com? I bought some of the top grade blackwood from them and once it was exposed to air, it got BLACK!!!!! From a distance, someone mistook it for buffed micarta.

Try www.gilmerwood.com they are the wind instrument makers choice when it comes to Blackwood. They have an extensive listing. Can provide anything from small pieces for nife handles to whole logs.
Regards,

Brad,
I bought my last from Gilmer's but still haven't found my one time supplier who offered three different grades at such a low price.
Thanks,
Gary
