silver supply

Hi.

I am looking for sterling silver (or other silver?) 1/8 inch pinning material, and silver to make guards and butt caps. Does anyone know of a supplier.

Thanks.

Rio Grande catalog has pretty much anything you could think of.

In a pinch older coins

Kevin, Hoover & Strong and Superpure are two large suppliers of silver that carry many alloys and sizes. Superpure is expensive. There are others I can dig up if you need. Ebay has a bundle of sellors, too.

Thanks guys. I have hold of some silver coins that will come in useful, ...just need the pins as well....though, I am thinking I could maybe use silver solder as pins, providing they are not needed for structural strength, just looks.....wat do you think?

I can get hold of nickel silver ok,..its the real stuff I want

There is a local craft center that sells sterling sliver, I just bought some 10gauge, about .100 thick and it was $5.00 a square inch. I think they buy if from rio grande.

Silver solder is just a silver alloy, so it should be fine. It might end up being a little yellower than sterling or coin silver. Rio Grande has some pretty thick silver wire, but I always have ended up using thinner stuff like 1/16" cause the thicker stuff is so expensive!

I sell Silver

Fellas, I sell .999 silver machined to your specs. Most of my customers use my silver parts to send to Randall for use on their new knives but I also supply pieces and parts to custom knife makers. If you tell me what you want I will be glad to quote you the price. I only use extruded bars so there will never be a void opening up as you work. I also have sterling sheet .040 thick whic I can supply in sizes to meet your needs. Small is OK I have been doing this for about 10 years. Turn around time is rarely more than a week. my email is silverknife1@aol.com, phone is (716) 687-1334, the Company name is Precious Metals Fabrication Company. Can do lugged hilts any size, with or without slots for the blades. Doug Cream
