Steve,
Just a follow up with my purchase of the platen. Easy to mount, runs a whole lot cooler that the steel platen and the edges are making it a h*** of a lot easier to make my shoulders even and uniformed. Thanks, Jim |

Thanks for the update, guys. How bout some posting how this material lasts, as compared to other platen lining materials, or liners you have gotten elsewhere. Thanks again.

Ok Steve, a status on how it's doing. I am still fairly new at this but I have finished 2 and rough ground 12 other blades (mostly S30v steel and ceramic belts) and it runs a great deal cooler than the mild steel platen. The shoulders are equal making it easier for a beginner like me to get matched radii. The front is showing only mild scratches. Granted I haven't put it thru the paces that a full time maker would.
Main thing for me is how much cooler it runs. Jim |

I am the knifemaker(I use that term loosely) formerly known as jungianeinstein, and upon making a few blades with the new platen, it works wonderfully.....I don't know how a maker would ever try to grind without one of these inexpensive additions to their grinder.

Glad to hear, Andre. Just curious, what do you primarily use your 1x grinders for?

1x grinders
Very good. I have a 1x grinder that still sees a lot of use also, but nothing it needs a platen for. I believe you'll really like the pyroceram. I've gotten reports that wear resistence is far superior to the neo ceram liners some are selling. Thanks again.
