I need a supplier for Parachute or similar for wrapping handles.

Thanks for the link. I found some others online also, but their shipping costs for a small order is twice what the product cost.
Maybe the link you provided is more reasonable. Ken __________________ Wolf-Mountain Knives http://www.wolf-mountain.com |

also TadGear has cord as well. Have you checked any Military Surplus places ? The one here in Vegas sells it by the spool or by the foot for $.06 . The cord from Ubraidit is good stuff though , allot better than the surplus store has .

Not many Surplus places nearby. I live in the mountains. Will check next time i get into the big city. Probably just purchase online and forget about the shipping costs. It's very convienient for sure.

Cord
I found a place a little cheaper than the Sportsmans Guide. Try cheaperthandirt.com They have some great prices, are fast, and even somewhat courteous. Black or Green, 1k ft for $42.00.

If you don't mind bright colors, you could also use small diameter rock climbing accessory cord as sold by REI and other outdoor sport stores.
For paracord, you might check local gun shows in your area to see if anyone there carries it. Amhearst Drop Zone sells paracord by the spool, but the shipping from Massachusetts to CA may be excessive. http://www.drop-zone.com/catalog/sho...tid=56&depth=1 Yet another source for paracord is eBay, where 1000 ft and 1200 ft spools are pretty commonly found, as well as shorter 20- and 50-ft lengths. If you want the traditional Japanese sword handle wrapping material, do a search on the web for the term TSUKA-ITO to find suppliers. There are also a number of sites that show how to wrap it in the tradtional manner. Here's a link to Fred Lohman's webpage for it: http://www.japanese-swords.com/pages/silk.htm I recommend his site as a whole if you're interested in Nihonto. RokJok,
Thanks for your input and great links. I did find a Surplus Store in Sacramento that had some and REI has a selection as well is Happycamper.com online. Got enough to keep me busy for awhile. Ken __________________ Wolf-Mountain Knives http://www.wolf-mountain.com |
