GCKG Winter Meeting Feb. 2015 at Twin Blades Shop in Statesboro, Ga.

The GCKG Winter meeting is planned for sometime in February of 2015 at Twin Blades Shop in Statesboro, Georgia. Exact date to be announced later. There will be a fellowship gathering on Friday evening and the meeting starts at 9:00 on Saturday.

The weather was lovely and a good time was had by all who were at the Colonel's Lodge in Vienna on Saturday. We had lots of good food and three great demos. A big Thank You to Colonel Ambrose, Dr. Sangster, Jim Collins, and Sally Sangster and her helpers. Look for the full story in the next Steel and Fire! There were 41 attendees.

Directions to Statesboro:
If you are traveling to Statesboro on I-16: At exit 116, turn north toward Statesboro on US 301/25. Go to the third traffic light, 8.7 miles, and turn left onto the US 25 Bypass. Go 2.5 miles and turn left onto Westside Rd. You will have gone through a caution light, a traffic light and will be turning left at the second traffic light. Bullock Academy is on the right. Westside Road may not be marked. Travel out Westside Road 4 miles to Fred Blitch Rd. and turn left. Look for a GCKG sign. Go down Fred Blitch Rd. 3.8 miles until it dead ends into Harvey Wilson Rd. Turn Left. Go for 1 mile on Harvey Wilson Rd and turn off onto Mt. Pisgah Church Rd. Look for guild signs. Go .2 miles to the deer crossing gate on left. Turn into deer crossing and follow the lane until you reach the shop.
GPS coordinates are: N32 degrees 26.950' W081 degrees 56.887'
Hope to see everyone in February!!!

Allen Surls has donated the scholarship knife for the meeting. We also have two of the three demo's scheduled for the meeting:

1. Carey Quinn is going to do a demo on Jigs he uses in the shop
2. James Mitchell is going to demo how to make pins on the lathe.
3. We need a 3rd demo.

I hate that I've missed the last couple of meetings. I hope to make it down to the Twin's. That's always a good one.
