Old locking liner wear- fix or retire?

The knife has been carried since 1999. Has seen much use and the locking liner is worn to the point that it will travel to the opposite side. Over the years I've peened the lock to push metal back but it is getting thin.

Some thoughts I had were make a new backstrap BUT getting it dialed in for the detent may be challenging.

Would you fix or retire it?
