I can't speak for #2, but I made #1 (or one very similiar) a couple of times a while back and really liked it. It seemed to be a nice size, weight, and design. My only complaint is that I think they took the file work a bit too far back. You really have to slant the forward end of scales to avoid the filework or cover some up. Covering some up is no big deal if you fill with epoxy - if you leave it open it tends to fill with junk and is hard to clean. That's my 2 cents.

Hmmm..... same style... well if I ruled the world I would call #1 a tactical camper and #2 a tactical fighter. I can't really think of anything else that fits that style off the top of my head, but after seeing the work you posted recently on the set of knives I have a suggestion - why not a hidden tang? Check this out:

With something like this you could shave the guard and design the handle to fit your needs - some deep finger grooves would make it look pretty mean. Just a thought.

Cheaper way to go would be to cut out your own if you have some basic tools. You can get a lot of pointers from folks around here if you decide to head down that road.

Unfortunately I don't. I did a bunch of kit knives early on and gave them all away so I had an excuse to buy more. I'm not sure why I didn't take any pics, looking back I kind of wish I had. If you're trying to save a few buck you could aways check out some of the guys on ebay, but be careful. There are some quality blanks on ebay, but ther is also a LOT of junk. If the seller doesn't know exactly what type of steel the blank is thats a pretty good sign you want to stay away.
