Hi all!

It appears to my moose eyes that the thumb notches are crisscrossed. In other words, as well as going across the blade, there are grooves in the length, making for checkered notches.

Take a look:

Cheers!

Moosehead

Not yet...

Hey folks,
I hate to have hi-jacked this thread. Let's see other folks' pics of "users" in amongst all of this! Go back to my post, explaining that I was going to have someone else post the pics. In that post I explained the fact that the Model #3-5" was supposed to be a door prize "give-away", but as soon as I saw that stag, it was mine. The stag is Randall shop-supplied on "both" knives. Nothing special there, except exceptional stag quality.
"Stanaback Specials" come standard with stainless steel blades and thumb notches. I don't know what type of "editing" Moose uses, but the thumb notches are standard shop-supplied. A "Stanaback Special" comes with special forging and TB (top bevel sharpened) all included in the base price, along with a black basket-weaved sheath on my 4" model and an oxblood sheath on my 4 5/8" model.
There is no mysterious grinds or sharpening technics. The handle material on a "Stanaback Special" is standard in leather, but stag, spacers, plates, slab-sides, wrist thongs, butt caps of all types, etc. is certainly not "unusual" on one of my knives. Keep it up: You're not there yet. There is nothing to show me ya'll have come close yet.
Hint? Read my descriptions...Best, The "Captain"

Captain,

Is it that it's a 4 5/8" Stanaback Special, & it has the 4" sheath, black basket-weaved sheath, instead of the oxblood sheath.

Drum Roll......!!!!!

Congratulations, Chief,
Absolutely! I positioned the knife over the "double-stamped" Sullivan's sheath. I am in the process of having Greg Gutcher and Danny Gutcher make me some custon "pairs" of sheaths for my "Stanaback Specials"! When I get to the point that I have received all of them, I will let ya'll know what is going on with them.
In the meantime, I use this sheath and knife combo for hunting in the field where I have a cleaning shed, etc. to dress and butcher game. There is no need for an "EZE-Lap" system out in the field when I'm bringng the deer (or whatever) back to camp to hang and butcher. These sheaths Greg and Danny are doing for me are first-class.
Hints about the future project: Matching pair of knives, either in black, tan or oxblood, plain or basket-weaved. 6 combintions in all with matching or appropriate handles to compliment the pair of sheaths. These knives are a ways away, but will be way-cool when completed! Good on ya', Chief. I'm impressed. I figured it would take a few hints to get 'er done!! Best for now, Captain Chris Stanaback

Now: Let's see someone elses' Randall "users". CCS

Thanks Captain,

You have me all a quiver with anticipation on the new knives! One more hint, will it be Limited production?

Moosie,

Welcome back. I thought that you got your feet stuck in the snow out in the tundra, and couldn't get back indoors!

Capt.,
What is the reason that all the Southern Camps have those "Cleaning Sheds"? That is the only area I have ever seen those used.

Kent aka 2shot, thanks for the welcome.

I had to take a break while waiting for my hooves to thaw out of the tundra, and then I had to fatten myself up after almost starving to death.

Here are some photos of my first RMK user. It's a standard #25-5 "Trapper", with a nickel silver hilt and a Duralumin butt cap. The sheath is a "Model A" instead of the normally supplied "Cover" or pouch type. I waterproofed it myself with SnoSeal wax.

Cheers!

David

Dang Moose I never thought I'd be saying this to you but, NICE SET! Boringly great stag as always Did Mrs. Moose do the Turkey or you? Outstanding and makes me hungry for mashed taters, rolls, gravy, stuffin and the rest of the trimmins to go with it all topped off with Pecan pie ala mode. Come on Thanksgiving!

Moose,
..Thanks for posting those PICs. I had forgotten that I use my Model 6 to slice the Thanksgiving turkey. Mine is over 40 years old and using it seems as natural as rain.
